It's that time of the month again! I just ran the banking report and as of today we have only spent $110 of the budget! Yesterday I ran to Price Rite to get the week's groceries and only had to spend $19, I've been very careful to plan meals using as much of what we have on hand as possible. Here's what my $19 got me:
-5 huge oranges
-bag of green grapes
-3 sweet potatoes
-2 cucumbers
-3 zucchini
-loaf of white bread
-jar of Rinaldi pasta sauce (didn't really need it but for $0.99 it'll be good to have!)
-3 28 oz cans crushed tomatoes (one for the week's menu, two for the pantry)
-gallon of milk
-3 bottles diet soda
The sales at the stores haven't been great either so I've passed on any stocking up I might otherwise do...but that's the beauty of building a good stockpile in the pantry and the freezer! Since there are only 11 days left this month I am almost guaranteed to beat my $200 goal, unless something crazy comes up.
Looking ahead, I can see that March might be a little over budget - we will need big ticket items (diapers, paper goods) and the Boy Wonder's birthday party will be the week after we move...I plan on making several homemade pizzas (which should cost under $12 for 4 pies) and having family bring the side dishes and soda. I'll make the cake, of course...might actually attempt to do a cupcake design - my husband got me this really cool set of Wilton puzzle cupcakes cups for Christmas so we've been playing around with shapes to see if we can make a dinosaur! I'll be sure to share pictures (even if it looks like something my 2 year old made himself!).
We'll be spending a lot of time packing this week, but I'll try to get a few good posts up in between my Chocolate Covered Giveaway postings!! If you haven't gotten in on the party be sure to check it out - the notecard set giveaway ends tonight, don't miss out!
Stumble It!

Way to go! I don't think we have that store near us... We're working on cutting down our food budget - and by we, I mean me - and one thing I need to focus on is meal planning with mostly stuff we already have on hand, like you said!
You're doing great! I should really try to make a budget and stick to it, but I get overwhelmed...
