Their plan is to offer free prescription drugs to folks who are unemployed and underinsured for up to a year, as long as they have been on the drug for a few months already and were recently unemployed. Fine. And Pfizer makes some really helpful stuff - Lipitor, Cardura, Celebrex, Xanax, Glucotrol...lots of medications for long-term conditions that will help people who can't afford their prescriptions due to job loss.
BUT...
VIAGRA?? Really? Couldn't they use money spent from Viagra giveaways to, oh I don't know...offer those same people access to the SHORT TERM medications (antibiotics, etc) they probably can't afford either? Nope, instead let's give free Viagra to a bunch of guys who suddenly have a LOT of free time on their hands.
My mother in law is a neonatal nurse...I should probably warn her to batten down the hatches around April or May next year...
